about

This work was produced during ‘Isolated Incidents - A Creative Dialogue Across Disciplines’.The premise of Isolated Incidents is that art is a sublime state that exists outside the body, a force bigger than the individual, and 5 artists across disciplines spent 8 days in residence responding to this idea, during the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on artistic output, practice and industry. The world has been turned upside down, and but this offers humanity a chance to reset, and I sincerely hope we take it.

These pieces were created in response to a series of design and choreography works by Rachel Ariane Ogle. Constrained within a single instrument using Western melodic scales and entirely improvised, these pieces were a departure from the usual CR0NES output. Some visual scores were used as cues, and some inspired by feelings and information. All artists works available at:

This release comes at a rocky time in my life. With the COVID-19 pandemic gutting my industry, the Black Lives Matter civil rights movement both removing and restoring my faith in humanity and my recent diagnosis of Graves which has a cool name but consistently saps my lifeforce, being funded to create art could not have come at a better time. I am supremely grateful to everyone involved in this project and to the Supreme Creative Force that informs shapes and saves all of my life.

I had the honour of working with Serena Chalker, Rachel Arianne Ogle, Gok-Lim and Tomas Ford on this excellent project. Thank you to Fionn Mulholland for documenting the process.

I would like to thank Melanie Anastas and Martin Gonzalez for their endless support, and again to Martin for mixing this release. Another singular thank you must go to Serena Chalker for organising the funding and administration around this project.

My final thank you goes to the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries in Western Australia, without whose funding support this heartily worthwhile project would not have been possible.
